Light

We drew some still life's focussing on the lighting. Lighting in artworks is useful to build forms of objects and shift attention from one side of the painting to another. It also builds form of objects making things look more 3d

I have successfully learnt about lighting in drawings and have practiced using it in still life scenes. I could improve by learning more about shading techniques and how light reacts to different textures

Perspective

We have learnt about perspective drawing by practicing in our collage. I have found that implementing perspective into my drawing has been useful to add more depth. I believe I could improve on my knowledge of perspective by practicing even more types in different locations

This is a drawing I made of our collage focussing on the one point perspective on the building

composition

IMG-3415_edited.jpg

I drew a still life focussing on the composition. in this case I framed the objects using a triangle shape in the page which I lightly sketched at the start to follow. focussing on composition in artworks can help make the them more visually pleasing and thought provoking for an audience.

I have found that this has improved the composition of the drawing as it doesn't overload the viewers on information. it is also use full for leading there eyes from one part of an image to another. I believe I could improve my knowledge on composition by learning about other types

Volume

Colour

I drew a still life scene focussing on the volume of the shapes by drawing the 3d shape such as ovals before adding shading. by drawing objects focussing on the object as a whole and what the back of it might look like as well as the front is a good way to build an understanding of how to use volume effectively in artworks.

I have found that this greatly improves the shape of my objects and forms. I believe I could improve on my knowledge by drawing more still life's focussing on this

I painted a colour wheel

with water colours to understand the colour spectrum and learn about types of complementary colours

Final character

I researched what concept art was and its purpose in the games industry. then I looked at different examples of concept art for games, and cinema Then I made a mood board using concept art I found on the internet to get an idea of how I wanted my own final character to look

For the environment of my character I got inspiration the the famous mountain k2. k2 is the second highest mountain in the world at 8611 meters but is known to be the most dangerous. I wanted my character to belong in this kind of environment so i chose a mountain goat.

For my final character I used photoshop to sketch out my character  and background and then do line art along with shading

I am happy with the final drawing of my character as it uses a lot of drawing techniques I learnt such as volume and composition however I believe I could of improved it by adding colour
